NASA showed the latest pictures Opportunity

Mars Opportunity might have perished in a planet-wide dust storm in June, but it continues to provide data about the Red Planet to NASA.

Now the Agency has published the latest pictures sent by the camera to the Ground.

After more than 1,000 attempts to reconnect, the space administration last month conceded it was not coming back.

However, although Opportunity is now forever resting in peace, just before the massive martian storm struck, the tenacious rover managed to capture one final panorama of the Red Planet - and it's glorious.

This annotated image is a cropped version of the last 360-degree panorama taken by the Opportunity rover's Pancam from May 13 through June 10, 2018.

A few frames of the panorama remain black-and-white, because the dust storm swept in before Opportunity could image those areas using all of its color filters, NASA officials said. To them the sky was already clouded with dust, and the Sun looks like a tiny dim point approximately in the center.

John Callas of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) said: "The final panorama embodies what made our Opportunity rover such a remarkable mission of exploration and discovery".

New Avengers: Endgame trailer will give you chills
There's not a ton of new footage in the recently posted Avengers: Endgame trailer , but what's present is there for a reason. Brie Larson's Captain Marvel makes her first Avengers appearance just a week after her own film was released.

The individual pictures where taken one by one between May 13 and June 10 or Martian Sols 5,084 through 5,111. The mission came to an end last summer when Opportunity became trapped in what eventually became a global dust storm on Mars. "Just to the left of that, rover tracks begin their descent from over the horizon and weave their way down to geological features that our scientists wanted to examine up close". It shows a number of interesting features of Perseverance Valley, in addition to the pristine, unexplored floor of Endurance Crater. NASA says the black and white frames at the bottom left of the image are that way because the rover did not have time to finish the panorama before it died. The mission of the rover was meant to extend into the interior of the Endeavor Crater, an area that has never been explored before.

It landed on Mars' Meridiani Planum plain near its equator on January 25, 2004.

NASA's Opportunity rover defied all odds by outliving its mission beyond the wildest expectations.

Opportunity was only supposed to stay on Mars for 90 days, but has now lasted an astounding 14 years.
