Chris Dawson, the former husband of missing Sydney woman Lynette Dawson, will be extradited from Queensland to New South Wales where he is expected to be charged with her murder.

The case is the subject of an investigative podcast series The Teacher's Pet which has uncovered new evidence about the disappearance of Lyn Dawson from Sydney's northern beaches in January 1982.

In September, police dug up the Dawsons' old home in Bayview on Sydney's northern beaches, but did not find any trace of Lynette Dawson's body.

After a career playing rugby league for the Newtown Jets, Chris Dawson worked as a P.E. teacher at Cromer High School.

Mr Fuller said detectives spoke to Lyn's family on Wednesday morning and they "were certainly relieved to hear this result".

'That information enabled New South Wales Police to get an arrest warrant for a 70-year-old man now living in Queensland, ' Fuller said.

The organization now believes the hack was from a foreign agent and told Politico that no donor information was compromised. The hack was detected by MSSP, a vendor the NRCC uses to monitor its network.

The magistrate has denied Dawson's bail plea, turning him over to NSW Police where he will face Parramatta Local Court tomorrow. He has said that she abandoned the family for a religious group.

The former rugby league player allegedly moved his teenage lover into the family's Bayview home just days after Lyn went missing.

The police have been criticised for not investigating Mrs Dawson's disappearance properly.

"There are other examples in policing history and history of the courts where people have been convicted of murder without a body", he told reporters.

Meanwhile, Chris Dawson's family has released a statement proclaiming his innocence.

Dawson's case was reopened in 2015 when detectives from the homicide squad's unsolved homicide unit began reinvestigating the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and suspected murder.

He had his head in his hands as the magistrate read out the police case, including allegations of domestic violence against his wife.

"We are disappointed at the decision of the DPP as there is clear and uncontested evidence that Lyn Dawson was alive long after she left Chris and their daughters", the statement, from Chris' twin brother Peter said.

He said detectives had revisited the case three years ago and a "fresh brief" of evidence led to the arrest.

Earlier this week, the ODPP provided advice to police, and following further inquiries, detectives applied for an arrest warrant before travelling to Queensland, police said.

Police said Dawson was due to be extradited from Queensland to New South Wales, where he would be charged with homicide.

"We have no doubt whatsoever that Chris will be found not guilty as he is innocent".
