Various Ritz Cracker and Ritz Bits products that contain cheese are being voluntarily recalled throughout the United States over concerns about possible Salmonella contamination. The recall only affects products sold in eastern Canada.

If you believe you became sick from consuming a recalled product, seek medical advice.

Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the store where they were purchased, CFIA said in a food recall warning. The company says the recall is a precaution based on their ingredient supplier's recall.

All the crackers involved in the recall have a best if used by date of before June. Young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems may contract serious and sometimes deadly infections.
